An exciting and colourful ending to our Crewe Hall Christmas Luncheon.

These Chinese Lanterns (and the black pencils with the diamonds studs on the ends) I am told were two of the MOST successful 2010 Christmas presents that I gave. The colours were beautifully bright including pink, purple, red, blue, green, orange and yellow.

Here we are ready to head for home after having enjoyed a 'truly scrumptious' Christmas meal at Crewe Hall (for the seventh year running) opening up the lanterns (after having drawn the colours from out of a hat to prevent any arguments, although there were one or two swaps afterwards, my daughter particularly wanting orange, her Polo playing colour.)

Starting to light them.

Those already lit slowly filling out with the warm air inside them.

Some are nearly ready for 'take off.'

Finally up, up and away!
